Verizon says it will charge folks higher rates as part of an overhaul to its data plans.
The largest mobile carrier in the US says that customers will pay $5-10 more for their monthly plans and, in exchange, will get a higher data allowance. The plans will range from the "Small" plan of $35 per month for 2GB (up from $30 for 1GB) to the "XXLarge" package at $110 for 24GB (previously $100 for 18GB).
Customers will be able to carry over unused data to the next month, and can also enable a "safety mode" setting that automatically throttles their wireless data speeds when the monthly cap is reached (rather than being charged for more data). ®
