Nokia axes jobs

Nokia is waving goodbye to 1,300 staff in Finland in the wake of the acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, a rival telecoms equipment maker, the company announced today.

Worldwide, Nokia plans to cut up 10-15,000 jobs, according to reports. Headcount for the combined workforce currently stands at 104,000.
