Arista adds Docker support to EOS

Also a million-route net-state repository

Arista has launched an upgrade to its network operating system, adding a million-route-plus database to act as a network state repository.

NetDB is an extension to SysDB that originally powered the EOS (Extensible Operating System). As well as more than a million route table entries, it can support 100,000 tunnel entries for “increased cloud scale”, the company says.

All EOS device states are aggregated to the company's CloudVision management platform, which provides streams of telemetry and collects historical and analytical data.

Also announced in the upgrade is support to run Docker containers in EOS, with enhancements to its ContainerTracer software to give sysadmins a better physical and virtual view of containers in their environment.

For hybrid cloud deployments, the company has added support for migrating workloads between private and public environments, and CloudVision can now manage hybrid solutions.

The upgrades to EOS and CloudVision will reach general availability this quarter. ®
