Infosec bods Flexera snap up Secunia's cybersecurity knowhow

IT teams able to deploy patches without damaging underlying systems, apparently

Flexera Software has acquired vulnerability management tools firm Secunia, although terms of the deal, announced Tuesday, are undisclosed.

Adding Secunia’s technology to Flexera's existing software licence solutions will transform software asset management practices, according to the US software licensing company.

Secunia’s cybersecurity products allow IT teams to patch systems discovered and logged into the inventory by software asset management tech.

IT security teams will able to deploy patches more quickly without damaging underlying systems, via a combination of asset management technology and vulnerability management software, or so the pitch goes.

Patching quickly is important because hackers routinely use vulnerabilities in software as gateways to exploit corporate networks, using techniques such as commercialised underground “exploit toolkits” to infect machines and break into corporate networks.

The list of massive enterprise breaches is long and growing, and includes Target, JPMorgan, Home Depot, and Sony.

Denmark-based Secunia was founded in 2002 since when the firm has helped businesses and private individuals globally manage and control vulnerability threats, risks across their networks, and end-points. ®
