The New Zealander that HP Inc named to run channel sales in the UK is leaving the company even before making the 11k mile trip to this sceptred isle, El Chan can reveal.

"We can confirm that Paul Boshoff will no longer be transitioning to HP UK & Ireland and will be leaving HP to pursue other endeavours," said George Brasher, MD for the UK and Ireland, in a canned statement.
As world + dog knows, HP this month split the operations of the PC and printer business into a separate entity: HP Inc. The remainder of operations comprise Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
Perhaps the allure of a severance package was too much for Boshoff to turn down, or perhaps it was the threat of lumpy custard and Toad-In-The-Hole that shaped his decision to swerve HP in Blighty. Probably the former.
We’ve asked Boshoff this question and will update the story if he replies.
Instead, it seems the right candidate was under HP’s nose all the time, with UK strategic partner sales manager Neil Sawyer lowered into the commercial channel director hot seat this month.
Sawyer knows HP well, having worked in the enterprise team for more than half a decade, before moving to Samsung, Vodafone, returning to Samsung and then heading back to HP last January.
Ironically, Sawyer was brought back to HP by Cusick, who had worked with the salesman at Samsung.
Brasher told us that Sawyer is "ideally placed to lead our channel business, as we embark on an exciting new chapter".
Updated Boshoff has told us the reasons for his departure were "circustmances more than anything [else] but probably the right call".
"I have enjoyed my time at HP but am excited about making the change."
He didn't add where he headed. ®
