This data-powered, insight-rich future, how do I get there exactly?

Microsoft will show you how to prep yesterday’s systems for tomorrow

Promo You know where you want to get to: data on tap, instant analysis, and market-changing insights. But the first question is: are my systems up to it?

Well if you can spare a few hours over the next couple of months, Microsoft wants to show you a modernised route-map to your data-rich future.

If you want tips on how to migrate your IT infrastructure away from Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 before they reach end of life, but can’t get away from the office, Microsoft is running a series of free online webinars are designed to help you understand the impact end of support could have on your business, and the steps you can take to modernising your IT infrastructure to safeguard your business and take advantage of ground-breaking improvements in performance.

If you’re wondering why you can’t just mend and make do, just consider this: Windows Server 2012 has in-built enterprise class virtualisation for consolidating workloads, and due to in memory performance, Microsoft says SQL 2014 runs 13x faster than SQL 2005. If you want the full SP on why yesterday’s platforms won’t support you tomorrow, full details, including on-demand and upcoming events as part of the Modernisation Webinar Series can be found here.

You can dive even deeper and simultaneously take a higher level view at two Microsoft Data Culture events running in May. These full day sessions are designed to help you understand the benefits of driving Data Culture, how to unlock access to all your data, and how you can empower your business to gain a competitive edge through data driven insight.

The full day session is delivered in partnership with KPMG, HP and Hortonworks which should give you a clue how wide-ranging it is. If you have data in your job description along with words like scientist or architect, you’ll want to find out more here.

If you want to find out more about how to bring your apps into the 2010s, you might want to consider the Data Platform Modernisation workshops. These unique half-day sessions promise to show you how to optimize your IT environment for greater performance, reduce the cost of operating your database, and improve your business critical applications with increased agility, while spanning key technologies including in-memory OLTP, virtualisation and SQL 2014.

There workshops are running through till June at all points of the compass. More details here.
