Report: HP to SPLIT OFF PC, printer biz from enterprise wing

Starship rejig. You let go, Picard. Pack your bags

Hewlett-Packard is reportedly planning a big break-up of its businesses, splitting its PC and printer operations from the company's corporate hardware and services divisions.

The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, said that the huge rejig could be announced by HP on Monday.

One source told the newspaper that chief Meg Whitman would remain as CEO for the company's enterprise biz and serve as chairman of HP's computer and printer operations.

PC and printer exec Dion Weisler, meanwhile, is rumoured to be stepping into the top job to run that freshly-separated side of the business.

The tech giant's lead independent director Patricia Russo is apparently taking chairmanship of the new enterprise company, the WSJ reported. ®
