Dude, you're getting a Dell – with BITCOIN: IT giant slurps cryptocash

Dell has started accepting Bitcoin as payment for stuff.

The PC giant, which notches up about $60bn in annual sales, said on Friday it is testing a feature that lets customers pay for gear with cryptocurrency.

"We’re piloting bitcoin, the world’s most widely used digital currency, as a purchase option on for consumer and small business shoppers in the US," the newly private titan explained.

As a sweetener for any punters with BTC, Dell said it will lop 10 per cent off the price of any Alienware PCs – up to a $150 limit – bought with the currency.

"When you’re ready to make a purchase, just add your items to your cart, fill out your shipping details and choose Bitcoin as your payment method. When you submit your order, you’ll be taken to to complete your purchase," Dell stated in an FAQ.

"Bitcoin is a new payment option intended to offer even more flexibility for customers. Bitcoin payments can be made easily from anywhere in the world, and offer reduced payment processing costs."

Dell partnered with Coinbase as its BTC payment processor. Coinbase said in a blog post it implemented Bitcoin payments "in jut two weeks" and hinted that Dell plans to soon "implement additional bitcoin features." ®
