Steve Jobs statue: Ones and ohs and OH NOES – it's POINTING at us
Twitter JEERS at Apple HQ's HIDEOUS 'cocky' memorial
Apple godhead Steve Jobs was known for his love of superb but pricey design and flawless aesthetics.
So why on Earth has the fruity firm decided to immortalise him with a monstrous statue that's been described as a "huge dildo" for fanbois?
Twitter critics have erupted in rage and disbelief after the statue was unveiled on the day on which Steve Jobs would have celebrated his 59th birthday.
They want to know why Jony Ive chose Serbian sculptor Dragan Radenovic's effort out of 10,000 entries.
The sculptor himself has said Ive had contacted him to say he enjoyed the imperfections of the piece, which steered away from computerised perfection in favour of honest-to-goodness ugliness.
With Steve Jobs' head perched at the top, the statue features the latin letter A (for Apple) as well an the Cyrillic letters "æ" [Э] and sha "Ш", as well as binary numerals zero and one... with latter looking fairly, er, protuberant.
A scale model is on its way to Apple and should the fruity Philistines survive a face to face encounter with the monstrous object, it will be built and placed outside Cupertino as a lasting memorial to Jobs.
Twitter was horrified at this thought.

Apple's new statue of Steve Jobs is, er, interesting. Nice to see they took inspiration from Terminator II, though. pic.twitter.com/Z7sCeQi3YP

Here at El Reg, our esteemed editor suggested the statue looked like something "from the opening sequence of a James Bond movie".
This humble scribe, who spent much of his early twenties writing about art, has decided it looks like Salvador Dali's back-scratcher. Or perhaps the Minotaur's rusting sex toy.
What do you think it looks like commentards? Let us have it. ®
