XBOX One SHOT DEAD by Redmond following delivery blunder

Blameless early adopter gets smacked with Redmond's banhammer

Microsoft has accidentally shipped a small number of Xbox Ones several weeks ahead of the official release date - and banned at least one gamer's new console from connecting to Xbox Live.

Redmond's minions admitted their mistake after pictures and video of the new games console were published online.

A Twitter user called @Moonlightswami received the Xbox before promptly changing his username to read "#1 Source 4 XBOX ONE". The Call of Duty fan appears to be basking in the attention, writing a series of breathless tweets about the number of Twitter followers he has amassed since his lucky break.

However, Microsoft has apparently banned the gamer from playing on his new gizmo until the official release date.

He tweeted:

Redmond has coughed to the slip-up.

In a statement, Microsoft said: "Due to a retail partner’s system issue, a very small number of Xbox One consoles were shipped to consumers before the 11/22 street date. We’re pleased to see the initial response to Xbox One has been so positive, but given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these console units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date."

Xbox One will hit the streets on November 22 and will be priced from £429. Microsoft will be hoping that it steals a march on Sony, whose Playstation 4 will be available in Europe from November 29 starting from £349. ®
