UK.gov blacklists Fujitsu from future contracts - report

Not good enough for government work. Cutting

Japanese IT group Fujitsu is among several companies that have been "blacklisted" by the UK Government, claims the Financial Times.

It means that Fujitsu, G4S and other unnamed companies will not be considered for future public sector contracts when they come up for tender because of their poor performance on past and existing government deals.

In the article published today the paper says that Fujitsu - along with one other IT services provider - was considered too "high risk" for future gov contracts.

The paper interviews Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude and new procurement head honcho Bill Crothers. The paper ascertains that there is a blacklist, and it credits "people close to the situation" for naming Fujitsu as one of the companies.

Fujitsu told us that "the comment is that we are not commenting. We don't comment on government contracts and we're not commenting on this."

A Cabinet Office spokeswoman said that they don't discuss contracts with individual suppliers. She added "there is no blacklist, we set out back in June that performance of suppliers would have to be taken into account when new contracts were awarded."

She said there would be no effect on current contracts.

A source at the Home Office has confirmed to the Register that Fujitsu's current contract with the ministry will be not renewed. ®
