All-flash array startup Solidfire has doubled the capacity of its array but left performance untouched.
Last November the company introduced its SF3010, a 3TB array using ten 300GB Intel 320 SSDs. It uses deduplication, compression and thin provisioning, scaling from five to 100 nodes and with an effective capacity range of 60 TB to 1.2PB and maximum performance of 5 million IOPS.
It has now introduced the SF6010, doubling raw capacity to 6TB and effective capacity to 24TB per node. There is a 600GB Intel 320 SSD – and SolidFire could be using that to double up the capacity. The cluster maximum remains the same at 100 nodes as does performance at 50,000 mixed IOPS/node and 5 million IOPS for a maximally configured cluster. Maximum cluster capacity is said to be 2.4PB.
The target market remains the same: cloud service providers, which are being offered vastly more IOPS from vastly less rack space with vastly less power and cooling needs compared to disk drive array storage.
The SF6010 is available through the SolidFire Early Access Program and there is no word on price. ®
