HP anoints Mayer in global networks boss role

Praised for her history of biggening

HP has confirmed that Bethany Mayer - caretaker of its global networking biz for the last four months - will get the job on a permanent basis.

Former Mirapoint and Blue Coat exec Mayer arrived at HP in March 2010 as veep for marketing and alliances in the Enterprise Server, Storage and Networking (ESSN) division but got the networking role in June.

Dave Donatelli, HP senior exec veep and general manager for ESSN, said snaffling market share from rivals was the grand plan laid out for the new networking boss.

"During her interim leadership of HP Networking, Bethany exceeded performance goals resulting in our seventh straight quarter of double-digit growth. She is the right leader to accelerate this business," said her boss, Donatelli.

Mayer will hope she lasts longer on the HP Networking conveyer belt than was the case with the outgoing UK head Barry Bonnett or indeed EMEA networking chief Carlos Sartorius, who HP claimed was given the global role at the start of June.

Bonnett is now negotiating an exit from the UK networking job while Sartorius has left to run Citrix in EMEA. ®
