Dimension Data opens big digs in Sydney

Dimension Data has invested in a global service centre worth $AU107 million in Sydney.

The new facility opened with a headcount of 130 people but it is anticipated that this will expand to 300 employees over the next five years.

Dimension Data Australia’s CEO Rodd Cunico said “we have also been able to both win and retain major national and NSW-based managed services and outsourcing clients, with the local support we are able to provide from our new North Ryde operational base. ”

NSW government Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner officially opened the new global service centre yesterday at Macquarie Park, an emerging tech hub, which continues to attract telecommunications and IT companies.

The NSW Department of Trade and Investment worked with Dimension Data to help secure the hundred-million-dollar investment for Sydney.

“This facility has been built to provide 24-hour, seven day a week technical support for companies spanning a range of sectors, including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, government and education,” Stoner said.

Dimension Data employs over 1,600 people in Australia, with over 550 staff based in NSW. Stoner noted that NSW accounts for 39 per cent of ICT businesses and industry value-added output in Australia. ®
