Samsung SuperSpeed drives out next month

USB 3.0 HDDs, anyone?

Out next month: Samsung's latest USB 3.0 external hard drives, both 2.5in portable and 3.5in desktop units among them.

The desktops fit into the M3 Station series, with capacities of 1, 1.5 and 2TB on offer.

The portables include the M2 and the C2, the latter a "premium" drive, which has a snazzy "wave-like matte finish that covers scratches and fingerprints".

SuperSpeed USB is backward compatible with USB 2.0, so if your computer doesn't support the new spec, you can still use these drives. The bus supports data transfer rates of up to 5Gb/s, but you won't get that kind of speed out of today's hard drives.
