Microsoft set to make small job cuts, says report

Microsoft is reportedly set to lay off more staff, although the number of people expected to be shown the door is relatively conservative given the size of the company.
According to Todd Bishop over at TechFlash, the software vendor could announce the job cuts later today.
Redmond, which currently employs 88,596 workers, will report its annual earnings on 22 July. So, as Bishop notes, it would hardly be surprising to see the firm jettison some staff ahead of those results.
In January 2009 Microsoft announced the first job cuts in its history when it said it would let go around 5,000 staff.
The Register has asked Microsoft to comment on this story, but at time of writing it hadn’t gotten back to us. ®
