3PAR has joined in the storage guarantee program game and is saying customers can get 50 per cent primary data storage capacity savings by migrating off legacy storage to the latest 3PAR kit.

The offer is available to Avatar-loving storage warriors on a YouTube video spoof of James Cameron's 3D epic fantasy. Customers have thirty days to migrate their stored data on legacy fat volume storage arrays - meaning not thinly-provisioned - to the installed 3PAR kit and return the results to 3PAR. If they haven't saved half of their original storage capacity, 3PAR will make up the difference with additional no-cost hardware, software and allied support.

It is reckoning that its various thin provisioning technologies and general storage efficiencies will mean migrating customers can get the savings without 3PAR having to shell out any extra kit. The actual Ts and Cs of the deal will be contained in written offers to participating customers.

3PAR is presenting this Get Thin Guarantee program as storage capacity liposuction for eligible customers. ®
