VIP, JDI pick up Acer franchises

Acer has awarded VIP Computer Centre and JDI Technology UK distribution rights.

From the look of it, VIP has the easier job as it gets to flog Acer notebooks, desktops and monitors to the channel. This is where Acer is strong.

JDI gets to make market with rights to distribute Acer's servers and storage products intended for the SMB market. Servers and storage are not noted as Acer strengths.

But as Acer says in the press release announcing the appointment, servers are a "key part of the SMB proposition". And the vendor must tick that box to present a credible option in this market sector. ®
