Presumably Thomas the Tank Engine...

Tech Guys

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 16:29 GMT

Alert

Why don't they call in the Tech Guys????

Is this their demise?

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 16:47 GMT

Flame

Isn’t this what happened to Woolworths web-site?

Surely...

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 17:38 GMT

Happy

this sort of thing should be covered by the Extended Warentee?

Call the Tech guys

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 17:49 GMT

Thumb Up

They did!

The tech guys are currently reformatting the servers with the default XP pro the server came with, They will then ask of the owners had a backup, at which time they will say "nothing we can do it's your problem now" and leave....

5 Year Cover ???

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 17:56 GMT

Coat

What they didn't take up the all singing, all dancing, all inclusive 5 year cover option with their hosting provider.... what do you mean you've been using the product....

Mines the one with "Mastercare" crossed out on the back

That's because they want everyone in their stores.

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 18:47 GMT

HDMI cable in store £90.

"We sell 90 a week."

HDMI cable in Tescos next door. <£10.

"What stupid stupid people they have for customers."

The same old Dixons story....

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 19:26 GMT

Dixons bought their network gear apparently new from a famous high street retailer but found the box had been opened and the equipment already had someone else's settings......

Still Down

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 21:45 GMT

Currys.co.uk and pcworld.co.uk (plus a few oddies) still down at 21:45

That familiar old feeling of finding out you can't read you backup tapes.

Bye Bye DSGi...

Posted Monday 12th January 2009 23:33 GMT

Happy

As someone mentioned earlier, the Woolworth's domain showed a similar message for a few days before they announced they'd gone into administration. Here's hoping DSGi go the same way: mind, then our only punch bag would be Microsoft. There don't seem to be any Henry Blodget "fans" on El Reg... :)

Servers returned to supplier

Posted Tuesday 13th January 2009 00:28 GMT

Alert

"Should be back inside 6 weeks or so"

Well soon

Posted Tuesday 13th January 2009 02:28 GMT

they will learn another meaning to the word redundancy.

Hmm...

Thumb Down

"Missing even a day's trading online will hurt the firm - it has been one of its few areas of recent growth, up nine per cent in the last half year."

That's because of their roundabout system of working:

Order online to get the web price, then have to collect at the shop as it's not available for delivery.

You can't just turn up at the shop, browse and buy to get the better price.

Unhappy

Are you really that sad you wishes tens of thousands of people and that's is not even counting associated suppliers, distributors, the logistics, the packaging companies etc.

You are truly displaying your own stupid ignorance on what really happens when these large organizations go down. Such a stupid wish to put on any company.

Good news it's fixed....

Unhappy

...however it's been sent to the wrong location, but we are not sure where that is. Phone back next week.

No Joke Icon, as it was no joke when it happend to me!

Blodget?

Coat

He can't start getting mentions here, then I'd never be rid of him! (lurking habits exposed)

@Dave Edmondston

Posted Tuesday 13th January 2009 11:06 GMT

Yes you can. It's called using your mobile to place an order via collect@store and then going to the tills and waiting a few minutes while a member of staff goes to find you item.

Whilst no one really likes DSGi I wouldn't wish job loss on any of the staff. We don't really want them to go down, otherwise who else can we complain about?
