Onyx Group bought the Edinburgh reseller Dundas IT last month for a "six figure sum".

The company will bolt on Dundas's managed services business and 100-plus customers to its Scottish operations in Falkirk and Glasgow. No job losses are planned.

This is Onyx's third acquisition this year - it bought Campbell Lee in Scotland and Newcastle Computer Services.

The Middlesborough-based networking reseller now claims 3,000 customers, three Scottish offices, two in the North East and one in Slough. It has three data centres, workplace recovery facilities in Newcastle and Glasgow, and an international office in Dubai.

Quote time, from Onyx CEO Neil Stephenson:

"This is a very significant move for Onyx as it will enable us to grow our business base both in terms of resource, capability and geography."

Now for Catherine O'Day, MD of Dundas IT (which will assume the Onyx name): "This is very exciting for Dundas IT and our staff. We are a growing company and the deal will enable us to build on our managed IT services and give us access to the data centre infrastructure and networks the Onyx Group has to offer." ®
