IBM has been busy rolling code from all the service management firms it has acquired recently into a more cohesive package.
And what better way to tout the fruits of that labor than hosting a little service management shindig? Enter the inaugural Pulse 2008 show in Orlando Florida.
IBM is centering the event around current Tivoli, Maximo and Netcool customers. There, Big Blue is announcing some new service offerings and better product integration for its service management market.
IBM's services ops will begin selling Service Management Quick Start and Healthcheck offerings. The service evaluates a customer's current management processes and compares it with industry best practices.
As a part of the service, IBM is rolling out a new version of IBM Tivoli Unified Processes tool — a web-based primer designed to guide companies down IBM's management straight and narrow.
There's also a new Tools and Accelerator service, which helps customers improve the speed of software implementation through IBM know-how.
On the software side, Big Blue is tying together several service delivery applications into a unified package called the Tivoli Process Automation Platform. Products being integrated into the platform include IBM Tivoli Service Request Manager, IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT, IBM Maximo Asset Management, and IBM Tivoli Business Continuity Process Manager.
The applications now use a single user interface for easier management and monitoring of IT systems and applications, according to IBM.
Lastly, IBM is updating its Tivoli Service Management Center for System z. The refresh ads support for Linux-based System z mainframe environment. ®
