Cobbled Together?

Shopping list

1. 1 X HP Blade system

2. Polyserve Software

3. Lowend SAS JBOD

All supported by HP

Why would this be any different to EMC's ultimate offering...

1. Servers (OEM'd or ODM'd - similar to servers in Centera etc.)

2. Maui clustering software

3. Lowend JBOD

All supported by EMC

Not saying one is better than the other, cheaper or better supported, but accusing EMC of cobbling when HP is building products from their parts bins is a bit like pot calling kettle black.

STOP SIGN - because caveat emptor, regardless of who you buy your storage from.

Well... let's ask HP & EMC what the BOMs look like. From what I read in some of the other articles about HP's extreme storage system, it's "an appliance" -- preconfigured and shipped pre-installed in a rack. I didn't get that impression from EMC's Hulk presentation at SNW, but would love to learn more...
