RM to push new HP sub-laptop to schools

RM has been signed up as HP’s only UK distie for its 2133 Mini-Note laptop intended for the education market.

The firm said that it has tied up an “exclusive partnership” to supply schools and colleges across Blighty with HP's dinky new sub-notebook.

The computer giant launched the machine, which rivals the Asus Eee PC, earlier this week. RM will begin selling the unit in May in the UK and Ireland with a price tag of around £299.

RM started flogging the Asus sub-notebook to school kids across the land last November.

RM CEO Tim Pearson claimed: “Low-cost, high capability computing devices like the HP Mini-Note mean that educational establishments can realistically aim for one computer per student.”

In related RM news, the company on Monday acquired a 25 per cent stake in Inclusive Technology Ltd, which supplies special educational needs and early years' products and services in the UK.

Financial terms of the deal were kept secret. ®
