Details of Nvidia's upcoming GeForce 9300M and 9500M DirectX 10-compatible mobile graphics chip series have surfaced ahead of the GPU's launch... on Nvidia's own website.

The 9500M GS will contain 32 stream processors running at 950MHz, while the core as a whole is clocked at 475MHz. The GPU will be linked to 512MB of GDDR 3 or DDR 2 memory, clocked at 700MHz and operating over a 128-bit bus.

The 9300M G has half as many stream processors. They're clocked to 800MHz, while the core runs at 400MHz and the memory at 600MHz. The memory interface is 64 bits wide. Again, there's a choice of GDDR 3 or "cost-competitive" DDR 2, and the GPU will access up to 256MB of it.

When Asus announced it's 12in Lamborghini laptop, the VX3, earlier this week, it said the machine would use the as-yet-unlaunched 9300M with 256MB of graphics Ram.

Intriguingly, Nvidia's pages list two other Asus machines: the U3Sg and the M51Sn which use the 9300M G and the 9500M GS, respectively. The U3S makes an appeareance on the Asus website, but while the U3Sg is listed, there's no picture and what appears to be placeholder text.

There's a reference to the M51Sn, but not page for it yet.

Nvidia's 9300M and 9500M pages aren't accessible from the rest of the Nvidia website.

Nvidia's last major notebook GPU launch was the 8800M GTX and 8800 GTS, back in November 2007. The GeForce 8M series made its debut in May 2007, so it's high time the family was updated with a DX10 line.
