Redmond said yesterday that it has shot out another beta build of Windows Vista SP1, although this one is reserved for hardcore testers only.
The latest updated release candidate – Windows Vista SP1 RC Refresh 2 – has been pumped out to an elite cadre of just 15,000 beta testers.
Microsoft also offered up the usual fuzzy logic fluff about being on target by saying it still expected service pack one for Vista to be spun out to consumers this quarter, but added: "The final release date is based on quality, so we will continue to track customer and partner feedback from the beta programme before setting a final date."
A few weeks ago the software giant pushed out its first release candidate of Vista SP1, a little earlier than expected. It even felt adventurous (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/01/14/windows_sp1_rc_refresh_open/) enough to let every man and his dog play with the beta build.
There's no sign as yet, however, that Redmond plans to do the same with RC Refresh 2. ®
