Debian users returning from the holidays need to update their Linux software following the release of a batch of security updates.
The updates address vulnerabilities in a number of packages including inotify-tools, typo3-src, tar, libsndfile, and peercast. Most of the flaws pose only a moderate risk, but flaws in the libsndfile library (http://secunia.com/advisories/28265) and peercast P2P (http://secunia.com/advisories/28260) tool could enable vulnerable systems to be compromised, security notification firm Secunia warns.
Users of Debian software on multiple hardware platforms may need to upgrade, as explained in a series of advisories (http://www.debian.org/security) by Debian published on 28 December. ®
