AMD tri-core Phenoms due February '08

Two CPUs in initial run

AMD's first three-core processors, due to go on sale as part of its Phenom line-up, will arrive in February 2008, it has been claimed. There will be two of them: the 7600 and the 7700.

So claim motherboard maker moles by way of Taiwanese site DigiTimes. The two tri-cores will be clocked, they say, at 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz, respectively. Both will operate within an 89W thermal envelope.

Dual-core Phenoms won't arrive until Q2, the sources maintain. Then, we'll see the 6050 and 6250, both with TDPs of 65W. As yet, the clock speeds are not known. All four CPUs will sit on a HyperTransport 3 bus running through a Socket AM2+ interconnect.

Can't wait? Then January 2008 will see the arrival of the single-core Athlon LE-1640. Also appearing during Q1 will be the 2.3GHz Sempron LE-1300, it's said.
