Westcon, the specialist networking distie, is moving into Mexico and the Caribbean for the first time, through the acquisition of Cernet of America, and a sister Mexican company called Cernet Tecnologia en Telecomunicaciones.

It won't break the bank - Westcon's purchase price will max out at $4.65m, gaining it a minnow that has annual revenues of just $1m.

Westcon's parent company, the South African IT group Datatec, yesterday also announced that its reseller sub, Logicalis, had bought out the 20 per cent of Logicalis Latin America that it did not already own.
