Symantec is buying 4FrontSecurity, a small compliance company based in Reston, Virginia, which was started by British-educated Christopher Parker and Steve Crutchley.

The firm makes software which conducts questionnaires with security staff to ensure companies are complying with necessary privacy and compliance regulations. The product lets companies assess what security risks their organisation is exposed to.

In other news, Symantec announced that its takeover of Altiris has been given the go-ahead for an early end to the waiting period imposed by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. The deal still needs approval from shareholders and German regulators. ®
