AMD will extend its ATI Radeon X1950 product line this quarter with the X1950 GT, Far Eastern graphics card maker moles have alleged. They point to an early February release for the part, which will sit just below the current X1950 Pro.
The sources, cited by Chinese-language site HKEPC, claim the GT is essentially an underclocked X1950 Pro. Both GPUs have 36 pixel shaders in 12 pipelines, eight vertex engines and internal CrossFire connector support. However, while the Pro's core is clocked at around 575MHz, the GT's will run at 500MHz. The two parts' memory banks are clocked at 1.38GHz and 1.2GHz, respectively.
The GT is said to be derived from the 80nm RV570LE core. A similar part, the RV560LE, which had been expected to debut shortly, appears to have been postponed, the site's source alleged. ®
