Reseller network back from the dead

Reseller network PCIQ, which went into administration in April last year, has been brought back from the dead.

The company's assets were bought from administrators by Andrew Doe and his incubator company Gizme. The new PCIQ provides small businesses and end users with a way to find a local engineer or reseller to sort out their problems. For independent computer engineers it provides an affordable way to market their services on the web.

It currently charges engineers a standard £25 fee, plus VAT, for leads.

Andrew Doe, managing director at PCIQ, told the Reg: "It's evolving into a marketplace for technical services. We connect people with need for technical services with local engineers. At the moment there is a standard fee but this might change because there is quite a range in what engineers charge across the country - Wales is much cheaper than London for instance."

The company maintains a database of approved engineers and is currently collating customer feedback. This will eventually be available online so if you are looking for services you will see a profile of a recomended dealer along with feedback from customers.

PCIQ launched quietly a couple of months ago so any potential problems could be ironed out.

Doe said things are running well with seven staff employed in the London office. He said there was increasing demand for help with digital home equipment like high defintion TVs as well as more traditional technology problems.

The old PCIQ ran a similar service but charged engineers a monthly fee to be included on its list of approved suppliers.

The company has a process to follow if customers complain about an individual engineer or reseller so they can be removed from the approved list.
