AMD will this month ship 'Lima', the 65nm version of its single-core Athlon 64 processor, it has been claimed by motherboard-maker moles. They allege recent AMD roadmaps show the 65nm Athlon 64 3500+ and 3800+ will appear "mid-January".

Details of Lima emerged back in November 2006, but then the part was said to be scheduled simply for a Q1 2007 introduction. Today, industry sources cited by Chinese-language website HKEPC provided the tighter timeframe.

The Lima chips contain 512KB of L2 cache. Their internal memory controllers support DDR 2 SDRAM clocked at up to 800MHz. The cores of the 3500+ and 3800+ are clocked at 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz, respectively, it's said. Both have a TDP of 45W.

A 2.6GHz 65nm Athlon 64 4000+ is due in Q2 2007, past reports claim. ®
