Dell has delayed posting its results for the three months ended November 3 while it continues an investigation into: "certain accounting and financial reporting matters".
The Texas company is checking the books for previously incorrect accounts. It is also being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In a statement to the stock exchange Dell said: "The investigations are ongoing, and no determination has been made as to whether restatements of prior period financial statements will be required. The company is not currently able to predict the extent or significance of any such changes, and those changes could materially affect previously announced results.
After disappointing results in the last quarter Michael Dell promised - "We are not satisfied with out performance, and we will do better."
