Computacenter has launched a new "library" service which it hopes will help reduce costs for its client-base.

The Shared Services Factory (SSF) has been developed based on what Computacenter has described as "successful projects", allowing it to come up with a set of standards or best practice for "future initiatives".

Computacenter provides independent IT infrastructure services to both private and public sectors and supports over 750,000 users across Europe.

According to Peter Gallon, head of IT at Northumberland county council where SSF has already been trialled, staff morale is up and costs are down by £2m.

"Computacenter Services has become an integral part of our team and helped the department to provide a consistently high level of service in a very demanding environment," he said. ®
