Two arrested over fake hols website

Summer's here for scamming

Two people are in court this morning charged with offences connected to scam holiday websites which could have conned as many as 3,000 people.

The two, a man in his sixties and a woman in her thirties, were arrested at separate London addresses on Saturday.

Charges relate to websites such as "sunmedresorts.com" and "holidayezs.com", according to Reuters.

The scammers took money for holidays that didn't exist and then attempted to disappear with the cash.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said the two were appearing at City and Westminster Magistrates court charged with conspiracy to defraud.

The Association of British Travel Agents warned people to be careful when booking online and look for accreditation either from them or from Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL). ®
