Overland tinkles the Bell (Micro)

Is it SMB storage announcement time again already?

Free whitepaper – Essential archive requirements for eDiscovery

Bell Micro will flog SMB storage gear for Overland Storage under a new deal announced today.

The ARCvault family is aimed at cost-conscious tiddlers with large amounts of data to backup. Or in other words, it's a big tape recorder. Simplicity is a selling point for the range, which is meant to fit in with more expensive HDD systems.

Cue self-congratulatory marketing wonk quote, obliged by Overland's EMEA man Chris James: "The fact that a distributor as renowned as Bell Microproducts has decided to distribute our ARCvault product is a testimony to itself. It has been on the market for less than a month and already its potential has been recognised – further enforcing the market requirement for tiered storage solutions."

Bell Micro's Nigel Dunn summed up the whole thing up in a sentence: "In terms of supporting the storage needs of SMBs, we consider the Overland ARCvault appliance to meet all the criteria...high performance and value for money." Damn.®
