Leak reveals ATI 80nm product plans

Roadmap

ATI will offer 80nm GPUs across the board following the process' debut in September, with only the top-of-the-range left out, a leaked roadmap from graphics card maker GeCube has revealed.

The slide comes courtesy of Chinese-language site HKEPC. At the top of the list we have the RV560/RV570 variants, both with 12 pixel pipelines. In the mainstream market, the RV505 and RV516 GPUs will offer just four pixel pipelines and operate an external 128-bit, dual-channel memory bus. A single-channel, 64-bit memory bus version of the RV505, dubbed the RV505CE, will be pitched at the value segment.

All five chips will support CrossFire configurations and incorporate ATI's Avivo image-enhancement process. They all support DirectX Shader Model 3.0 and hardware-accelerated decoding of the H.264 hi-definition video codec.

They're all PCI Express parts, but so far only the RV505 and RV516 have won formal PCI Express certification, according to the PCI-E SIG website.

ATI last week denied its 80nm release plans had been delayed and pointed to a September launch for parts based on the new process. ®
