Asus offers no-noise graphics card for Xmas

Si-i-lent night, Ha-a-lf-life night...

Asus will shortly ship what it dubs as "zero noise" - 'silent' to the rest of us - graphics card that eschews buzzing fans in favour of a "large" heat-sink.

The heat-sink feeds a secondary cooler through a heat-pipe. The cooler is mounted on an adjustable bracket to allow you to position it perfectly within your PC case's airflow.

The EAX800 Silencer is based on ATI's Radeon X800 GPU, clocked to 392MHz. Its 256MB of GDDR 3 memory runs at 350MHz (700MHz effective) across a 256-bit bus. The board has a pair of DVI-I ports, along with an HDTV-enabled video in/out port. Analogue monitor support comes courtesy of a pair of DVI-VGA adaptors.

Asus said the EAX800 will ship in the UK by the end of the month for around £160. ®
