Distie round-up Computer 2000 - as Tech Data is called in the UK - has promoted Lee Perkins to run Azlan in the UK. Former Azlan boss Simon Hill was purged last month in the a re-org which saw the loss of 60 jobs. Azlan UK now incorporates C2000's former networking solutions group - which Perkins ran - and its midrange hardware and software portfolio.
Gem Distribution is to wholesale Ability Office to smaller UK retailers. Ability works directly with the larger UK retailers, including PC World, Dabs and John Lewis.
Computerlinks, the German distie group which owns Unipalm in the UK, is dipping its toe into the North American market. It is starting off in a small way, hiring six staffers based in Austin, TX, who will handle franchises for Crossbeam, ActivCard, Clearswift and Zultys.
