Apple's second UK High Street store will open its doors next week, timing the popping of the portals to coincide with the official release (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/12/apple_tiger_osx/) of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
The store, in Birmingham's rebuilt Bullring Shopping Centre, will open at 6PM on Friday, 29 April. It's on Level 3 of Upper Mall West.
To tempt shoppers and Mac fans to swing by, Apple is offering a Digital Lifestyle Collection prize draw. There's a 20in-screen iMac up for grabs with a stack of peripherals, together worth £2,145.
Scratchcards will be handed out too, offering visitors the chance to win notebooks, iPods and other prizes.
And the first 1,500 folk through the door will take home a commemorative T-shirt, Apple said.
Apple opened its first UK store, in London's Regent Street, last December. The opening drew round-the-block crowds. The Mac maker is preparing to open a third shop, in the Bluewater shopping centre, Kent. No date has been given for its opening. ®
